3M had a wonderful day out in the Peak District this week. They saw some beautiful views as they hiked up Mam Tor and enjoyed their lunch once they got to the top. Despite a bit of rain, the children were all smiles and had a fabulous time!

Year 4 had an amazing experience this week when the Creative Team organised and led an Anglo Saxon cook out for each class to enjoy. The pupils prepared bread and vegetables in the classroom before heading out to the Forest School area, which had been transformed into an Anglo Saxon village. They were met by Miss Martin, Miss Donnelly and Miss Jones, who were dressed up in role as Anglo Saxon villagers. The children learned about life in Anglo Saxon times and enjoyed eating the food they had prepared after it had been cooked on the cauldron. What a wonderful day they had!

Eco Fair-June 2023

On Tuesday 27th July, Stanley Grove hosted their first ever Eco Fair! The after school event was hosted by our Eco group, the wonderful Miss Jones, plus our fantastic partners at Manchester Environmental Education Network (MEEN) and Keep Britain Tidy.

The children and their families enjoyed the various stalls and activities at the event, including Sewing and Mending corner, planting with recycled compost, electronics recycling, plus a timed recycling sorting game which promoted some healthy competition between the children!

Our highly knowledgeable Eco Ambassadors, spoke with confidence and passion to the fair, and shared all they have been learning in their after school club. We hope this is the first of many similar events at Stanley Grove!

What an exciting update! Well done everyone! Keep it going!

Reception- Artists in the making!

Last week Reception Wilkinson enjoyed a live zoom today with the author of ‘Look up/ Speak up’, the book they are exploring at the moment. The children loved it, and the illustrator taught them all how to draw a book worm! The drawings are fantastic. Well done Reception!

Year 4 Sleepover

This week was Year 4’s turn to have a sleepover in school. Children developed their team building skills through making board games, building bridges, creating class mosaics and designing clothing from newspapers. They also had lots of fun at the local park and took part in a treasure hunt around school. Everyone had a wonderful time!

This week in PE, 3 Wilkinson learned how to dribble the ball close to their bodies. They used their fingertips to control the ball and stop it from getting away from them.Β

The children tried it with both left and right hands before trying both hands together.

Next week 3 Wilkinson will move on to walking and jogging whilst dribbling.
