Year 5 Frugal Foods

This week Year 5 have planned and made some amazing dishes from around the world. Inspired by Marcus Rashford and Jack Monroe, they had £2 to plan a healthy meal which would feed 4 people, it needed to include protein, carbohydrates and to be packed with vegetables and seasoning to make it taste good.

The dishes included flavours from Spain, Mexico, Pakistan, Morocco, Italy, Jamaica and China and the end products didn’t disappoint. The children all worked well in teams ensuring that they were being safe throughout. They also had to keep their space clean and tidy and wash up all their equipment. Well done Year 5!

Year 5 Scavenger Hunt!

Year 5 have been working on their orienteering skills in PE. They were given a map and a list of numbers they needed to find around school. On each number there was also a letter, that they needed to write down. Once all letters were collected they then had to unscramble the word and collect their next mission! There are so many things to consider such as map reading, communication, working as a team, unscrambling words, running to name a few! The children got better and quicker really quickly as they worked out what they needed to do. It was a fantastic lesson and everyone had fun!

Year 3 Science

3 Wilkinson have been super scientists this week! The children made figures from tin foil and explored how to create a shadow with it. They also learned about what a shadow is, what types of material let light pass through, and which do not.

Chemistry with Cabbage!

This week Year 5 have welcomed Ruth into school who has been completing a science workshop called Chemistry with Cabbage! The children have learnt lots about states of matter through lots of hands-on experiments. All the activities involved using household equipment such as cabbage, a rubber glove and baking powder. It was fantastic to see the children so engaged in their learning and asking lots of brilliant questions to deepen their understanding

2 Wilkinson Learning Fun!

Our class 2W our super excited about their latest science planting lessons and are in the process of germinating runner beans. This was one which Miss Steel blew up on the visualizer and it looked like a duck! The class loved it!

4 Khan Pizza Express Trip

4 Khan loved their visit to Pizza Express this week. It was so fun learning how to make pizzas then cooking then in a proper pizza oven. Obviously, the best part of the day was getting to eat their lovely creations afterwards. YUM!
