School Meals

At Stanley Grove we serve delicious school dinners every day. Stanley Grove has been recognised as being a ‘Healthy School’ and our menus are constantly renewed and refreshed fortnightly to reflect this accreditation. We offer exciting and nutritious hot and cold food for our children to enjoy each day. Menus change each term, and run on a 3 week rolling menu format. Please note all food served at Stanley Grove is Halal and we are a strictly ‘Nut Free School’. School meals are priced at £2.60 per day (£13 per week), and are free for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children.

We’re proud to serve meals that are not only delicious, but also healthy, nutritious, and kind to the planet.

Aims:

• To get as many portions of the recommended 5 a day into the school day
• To further reduce sugar in children’s choices
• Avoid as much saturated fats as possible (  homemade products )
• Keep fried foods to the recommended allowance or less
• Reduce breaded and battered food products (to one a week)
• Introduce savoury choices as a second choice rather than dessert options

Re: Important Changes to Free School Meals from September 2026

Dear Parent/Carers

We wanted to make you aware that the rules around eligibility for Free School Meals are changing.

As of September 2026, there will be two categories for FSM students:

· Targeted FSM for families in receipt of Universal Credit with earnings of £7,400 or less. These students will get the free school meal plus pupil premium (Funding for school).

· Expanded FSM for families in receipt of Universal Credit with earnings above the income threshold (£7,400). These students will get the Free School Meal only (No Funding for school).

All families including those already eligible and receiving Free School Meals and those who are not currently eligible, are required to re- apply for Free School Meals for September 2026. If you are in receipt of Universal Credit, but have not previously been eligible, it is likely you now will be, and must apply.

To support school with managing this change of process, please complete your application by the 22^nd July 2026.

Families will need to apply using the Universal Credit parent claimant details. This will cover the Academic Year 2026/27. Families will need to reapply annually for this arrangement to continue.
